Help! I Can't Breathe...

While inspecting a property in the Nashville, TN area the other day, I could not help but notice the conditon of the coils on the package unit. While it is not unusual for condensor coils to collect a little dirt and debris in them over time, there comes a time when these coils need to be cleaned.

The outside... (more)

Clicking the MORE never let me back here to comment...grrr...Condensers are such lovely additions to the landscape...lots of folks try to cover them with plants, bushes etc.not realizing what they are doing to the function....

Michael,  What would you suggest that someone use to clean the coils outside?  Also isn't there something that needs to be cleaned at the inside part of the unit?

Sally and David... Sorry, the post should have opened in a new window and all you needed to do was close that window. I am working on a new format as you may have noticed...

Judy, Professionals use a cleaner designed especially for outside units. And yes, if you have a split system, the inside coil needs cleaning too. That is best done by a HVAC contractor...

I guess you have maintenance with everything... including even an Airstream!! It's 40 degrees this morning so I'm glad my heat is working!

michael - I like it. Clean those coils before you need them. Summer will be here before you know it.

Michael,

I am pleased to say that we see so few A/C units around here that they are not much of a problem. Other than, because we see so few, it is hard to be as informed on them as we might like. Basically lack of practical experience from seeing so few.

Michael, Thanks for the reminder.  I often forget to look at my outside unit, it's outside and tucked away out of site, but we live in the woods and there could be leaves and twigs etc all over it.  Great reminder!

ToulaRosebrock.comHi Michael:

You are right.  We should all remember to clear the condensor of debris.

Good reminder!
