(not so) Speechless Sunday...
Yesterday was a beautiful sunny day here in middle Tennessee. It was time to grab the camera, let grind of the workweek go and get into my right mind.
The last blooms of the blue iris under the dogwood intreagued me. Checking these from every angle possible, the background was not what I wanted, so I did what every good photogropher does - Cheat!!!
Pulling a little black cloth out of my bag of tricks to block out the background behind the blue iris, changing the lens to a 70-100mm, using the right manual settings, and Voila ~~ the perfect backdrop and camera settings to enhance the color of these late blooming beauties.

Helping YOU Live YOUR American Dream...

Wow! You nailed it! The iris wa my late fathers favorite flower, each year we had different varieties, hybrids, and colors. The blue was his favorite
Thanks

And who says that cheaters never win? I think that you have a real winner here my friend.
Irises are among my very favorite flower....long gone here as the leaves fall and it would be/should be a great time to plant more...bulb planting season here is so cold and damp...only the dedicated landscape oriented folks literally "weather" the storm to brighten their yards.
Very striking pictures Michael. Nice job. I guess you got the iris right on the iris!
How beautiful, the state flower of Tennessee! Wonderful photo, Michael.
Hi Michael, Very nice shot and beautiful photo. Thanks for sharing, Nice post. Hope you have a great week.
Ah, the bearded Iris! How gorgeous is that and against that black background, the colors really do 'pop!' Great shot--you are talented in so many ways, Michael!
Have a great Sunday...
Hi Michael,
These are spectacular bearded Iris! Your idea only enhanced the vibrant color of these beauties. Great shot!!! Thanks for sharing.
What a wonderful shot....nothing looks very "alive" around here now....colder and wetter and winter coming soon!
Beautiful, Michael
Michael - The leaves are rapidly falling in the Toronto area so it's great to see blooming flowers down south.
Wow Michael,
Your pictures always make me realize I have the camera, but maybe not the eye or creativity. Breathtaking,
Beautiful photo Michael. As always you're thinking outside the box and once again it turned out beautiful. Thank you for posting it for us.
Good call, Michael! Nothing would have brought out the color better!
Debi
Michaelk....very very very very very NICE. The color is absolutely beautiful against the black...you certainly had your thinking cap on when taking the photo.
Cheat? I can't believe that you would call this work of art cheating. Of course using all tools in that MAC you have can do a lot of things to pictures. but that's why you have it.
Wow! What a fabulous shot Michael!! You'd a thunk using a black cloth in a flower garden? Worked!
Michael, Wonderful photo. And thanks for sharing the details on how you got the shot.
