(not so) Speechless Sunday...
As the days get shorter and the nights cooler, thoughts of Summer's last hurrah echo. Pretty soon, lawn mowing and harvesting the last of the garden flowers and vegetables will give way to leaf raking, bulb planting and winter mulching.
Labor day, the last summer holiday. The last time for family picnics, parties on the beach and evening strolls down canopied lanes with your loved one.
Soon, the sweet smell of summers last blooms will give way to freshly fallen leaves, bonfires, and crisp evening air.
So as we wave good bye to summer and start to embrace fall, how will you be enjoying this last hurrah of Summer?
Have an enjoyable weekend y'all...

Michael, another great photograph. Fall is in the air and it is a welcome respite here in southern Florida. Thank you for sharing!
Good Morning Michael,
Thanks for the post. Time to plan for pickling the cucumbers. Have a great day.
Where did you get that orange leaf? Tell me they are not turning yet...
Good morning Michael, hope you have a great weekend. Thanks for the beautiful photo.
Arghhhhh...take a bite out of fall clean up, preparation for winter. Not fall yet in Maine..TN leaves changing with jack frosts help?
Gary, no, this was taken last fall...
Patrick, Pickling cucumbers. Now I haven't done that in quite a spell...
Tom, I was out early this morning and yes, the cool morning air was quite a respite from all the muggy days we have been having...
Kenneth, have a great weekend too...
Andrew, no, your leaves will change before ours. The cool mornings we have been having is reminiscent of an early fall...
Michael.
Thanks for the photo. It was sooo cool this morning... plans this am were to putter in the flower beds, cut some sunflowers, etc... then the wife tells me my open house ad for LAST Sunday is in the paper THIS Sunday... it seems Monday is getting here a bit early :)
Hi Michael, Awesome photo! Hope you and your family are having a great holiday weekend. The leaves are changing and the temps are getting much cooler. Enjoyed the post!
It has been nice to get away from some of the brutal heat we have been having here in Alabama. Fall is getting here way to quick.. Your photography is always so beautiful to look at. I love the picture. Michael thanks for sending your good vibes this way!
Down here, in NE FL, it doesn't feel like fall yet - one of my favorite seasons when I grew up in NJ.
Hi Michael, I know you crossed the border and got that foliage photo in Canada!!! ;>))
Michael, after a month with all four home with no school and no camp, I say it is about time!!! Bring on autumn and school!
Good morning Michael,
I'm glad to know that isn't this years picture of a leaf turning..I was going to be real jealous! We are going to spend tomorrow relaxing in the pool! Have a wonderful safe and happy Labor Day!
I'm with #8 Bill. Monday came early this week (usually does). Love the pic Michael. I need to do some better time management so I can take a few minutes and appreciate all the color of fall.
Michael, It isn't here yet, but you can sense fall's arrival isn't far away. Finally some cooler weather after an unusually high number of over 90 temps the last few weeks!
Bill, temps got down in the mid 50's here. Kinda nice...
Gary, Thanks. Hopefully, it will be towards mid October before we start getting the change...
Diane, Yes, it is nice to get a reprieve from the heat...
Carol, I lived in FL for many years. Grew my best vegetable gardens in the winter...
Ann Marie, no, that pic was taken last fall. I'm sure that the trees have started turning up there by now...
Phillip, I'm not quite ready...
Dorie, have a great relaxing weekend...
Randy, Today I relax. Tomorrow, I will putter on some marketing stuff...
I love summer, but adore fall even more...around here, though, fall seems to be over so quickly...I love the change of colors, leaves, fresh brisk air, cuddly sweaters, fires--inside and out---candles burning, Packer FBall, etc! But, today, hopefully I can wash and vacuum out the cars, maybe a harley ride, tennis, groc shop, etc...happy labor day!
That's a sight we'll have to wait another month or so to see. Maybe we'll have to meet in the mountains right on the TN/ NC border for a photo shoot and viewing of the change of season.
Hi Michael, I will be blogging for the challenge ~ have a good holiday with your family and friends!
Kristin, Fall and Spring are my favorite times of the year...
Craig, let's do that...
I like your new comment look. There is a coolness in the morning air over here at Canyon Lake. A sign of what is ahead.
A great post to kick off fall. We're still in double digits here in Fair Oaks, but I'm sure it's coming...
Michael ~ I am spending it trying to get my much neglected yard in a bit better shape before the leaves fall...and a deep cleaning on the kitchen....so I guess I am doing my spring cleaning a bit late.. :)
Michael - Nice picture, we'll be taking pictures of pumpkins soon. I do love the colors fall as well as the great weather we have here in Tennessee.
Mike,
I'm so done with Summer this year. Maybe I'm getting too old, but it was one of the hottest I can ever remember.
Looking forward to the fall and more moderate weather. Had a bunch of trees cut down so the leaves should be easier this year too :)
Rich
Being a California girl now living in . . . Chicago . . . I hate fall because, although it's beautiful, it signals the start of the very long cold season. Love the picture, though.
Michael, that's a beautiful photo. And I do notice the days are getting shorter. I get up at fine and only yesterday it was daylight, but today it isn't light until 5:30
Here in Northeast PA it does feel like fall at night. Days are warm but last night was COOOOOOOL.
Fall is coming, quickly. Leaves are starting to turn even, on some tress in my yard. Ugh.
Michael, I am so ready for fall! It is my favorite time of year. As always, your pics are incredible!
Michael - lovely photo ..... ours started to turn a few weeks ago ..... it seems they are turning earlier every year lately
What a stunning photo Michael and see this is what we have to look forward to! For us up here they are forcasting a beautiful September, so we are not going to be done with summer yet!
Michael, I don't know about you, but I have enjoyed the cooler temps the last couple of days. I can't wait for autumn to be in full swing.
Loved being able to sleep with the windows open and snuggling under the comforter last night. AC was off for the first time in ................. I don't know how long! I like this weather, will miss summer, although we still have a few weeks to go. Nice pic, but I don't want to see those leaves just yet!
Michael, right now the weather is perfect. Not ready for all those leaves yet. Nice Photo!
Living in S. Florida, we don't get the leaves turning and cooler fall temps. Sure do miss them though.
Fabulous photo, i do not want to say good bye to Summer 2010.
What a lovely picture. I love the fall and am looking forward to it with renewed enthusiasm. Thank you sharing.
Michael,
Fall has moved in forcefully here in the northwest. It is here.
There's always so much to do... This weekend I'm kicking back a little and working on some writing and music, after laundry and house cleaning! This summer went by faster than most, it seems. It was a good one however. This time of year like the end of the year puts me in a contemplative mood. Looking forward to those fall colors. Have a great weekend and enjoy...
Michael....I'm looking forward to school being in session and my going back to work full force again.....
Hi Michael - We're getting one last blast of triple-digit heat, so I'll be watching a lot of college football to end the summer.
Wowzers, Michael! That's gorgeous! What I am doing for Labor Day seems pale in comparison! :OD
Michael,
Very Lovely and Profound Thoughts. Also you chose a great picture to go with it. I love the turning of the leaves, it is an amazing time of the year. All the best!
I love the changing of the leaves, but I have to admit I'd rather be right where I am. MV cured me of doing anything but visiting the mountains (somewhere else!).
Hi Michael...congratulations on your feature post..awesome colour photo of a maple leaf...your fall season sure jumps in early, our trees will start to change colour toward October and finnish dropping there leaves by the 1st of November.
Enjoy you day off :O))
Yes, the leaves turn quickly and early here in "the live free or die state of NH" . It's beautiful in NH in the fall, come on up and visit. You won't be disappointed with the foliage.
PS You photos is great!!

I will be taking plenty of walks this fall through the parks. This is my favorite time of the year.
