Michael's View: New Uses for Old Extension Cords

New Uses for Old Extension Cords

It never ceases to amaze me when I see the things that Un-handy Andy does with electricity. Improper use of electricity and improper wiring techniques are one of the few things that will kill you or burn your house down. But, nevertheless they keep tinkering. I guess that tinkering is their life.

I was in an older property where the garage did not have electrical outlets. This is not unusual, so, the homeowner came up with this solution to the problem.

And, just for good measure, they added this one as well. Both were improperly wired to the breakers in the panel and the one on the floor was wired in reverse polarity - an electrocution just waiting to happen.

If you do not know what you are doing, why take unnecessary chances? To add a few outlets that will be safe and in incompliance with accepted trade practices may cost a few hundred dollars at most. Keep you and your family safe.

Sadly funny!  These people may as well wrap them around their necks...at least that way the only person they'd hurt would be themselves!

Be of service!  The rewards will come!

This is so sad - yet we see them all the time.  It amazes me when I see people open up these boxes and start playing around in them - There is only enough electricity to kill you.  Nice.  Thanks for the posting and a good reminder.
