Years ago my father got the bright idea to chop off the top of the roots of a weeping willow tree.  He didn't like the fact that they messed up his smooth grass.  The result?  A violent thunderstorm rolled through and the tree came crashing down.  Fortunately it feel in just the right direction that it only took out the corner of four fences.  Insurance did pay to fix all of the fences and I doubt he ever confesed to the neighbors exactly why the tree came tumbling down :-)

This is an appropriate picture. I bet the owners were speechless when they saw it.

ToulaRosebrock.comHi Michael:

BIG OOPS.....

This is why they cut trees down in smaller sections.

What a mess!

Yeah that looks like a BIG OOPS to me!  Was it done on purpose?

Michael-This is reallly a big OOPS!!

Wow!  That would wake you up from an afternoon nap or ruin family meal.

Michael... big homeowner mistake , I own three chain saws, and I am not afraid to use them. But this close to the house has to be done with wench and wedges or a excavator to push with the bucket while cutting.

Michael...

Whoops indeed!

Michael, oops is right! What was this person thinking? A very good reason to leave this type of work to the professionals.

A cutting well planned---that is my only comment for this picture. You never know what planning means for somebody.

That is one way to remodel a house.  Hope no one was hurt.

Michael, I bet this made the head lines there in Brentwood, I can just see the people faces as it started falling toward the house. Don't tell me they called to inspect the house. LOL

That looks more like an ouch!  Gravity strikes again.  This should be used as an ad for a tree service.

Looks like someone needs chainsaw and tree cutting instruction:)

Michael- well, there's onebig "awe sh*t", how do you explain that to the wife and kids, or the homeowner that hired you?  I had two trees into a home of mine during a windstorm, it sucks.

Posted by Mike Saunders (Lanier Partners) about 3 years ago

Kinda goes to show you that some folks and chain saws just don't mix...

I learned how to cut down large trees in Forestry at Texas A&M University, but it was an extracurricular activity. Even then, when it comes to having a large tree next to my house, I'm hiring the professionals.

I sat here and laughed for five minutes before I could compose myself enough to leave this comment.

By the way, you're in my Week In Review, posted earlier today.

Michael, Oh my goodness to have to explain that one.  We still have a house wearing a tree in my subdivision from Hurricane Ike.  It was in pre-closure before the hurricane happened and went through the foreclosure process wearing the tree.  What a mess for both!  I'll bet this one gets repaired though.

Marchel, Yup, I'm sure that this guy had a tuff time telling his wife what just happened. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall. But then, maybe not...
